  • Statistics- In 2007, 1.7 million amputees (excluding fingers and toes)
  • 185,000 amputations each year
  • Prevalence:
    • 46.2 per 100,000 persons with dysvascular disease
    • 5.86 per 100,000 persons secondary to trauma
    • .35 per 100,000 persons secondary to malignancy of bone or joint
    • Birth prevalence of congenital limb deficiency - 25.64 per 100,000 live births (1996)
